A hurting unit, is what I am. Ishitunot!

Had a total rt. hip replacement 9/16/19.   In May it was my rt. knee that needed the surgery. Confused? No more than I was when in June my primary sent me to an orthopedist to have an injection put into my rt. knee to lessen the pain while I waited for a surgery date. Waiting lists are a few months long. Oh, the Rusty Years.  . This person gives me this spiel that knee pain usually comes from hips & set me up to have the injection in my hip instead. Like what do I know. Had been told in the past that my hip would need surgery, but had no pain in it. YET!  Twenty four hours after that injection was placed, I was in agony. Ishitunot!  Agony 24/7.  So now I not only had  occasional rt. knee pain, but constant rt. hip pain.  Could only lie flat on the bed to sleep & still do, even though I have been given the go ahead to sleep on either side by my surgeon. It's just too painful to be able to doze off. For whatever reason, my whole system revolted & hunger left me. Nothing interested me.  Not food, not life in general. A few bites & that was it. That led to an upper G.I. & colonoscopy as the weight loss was of concern. Nothing serious found, thankfully.   To those that might be reading this, I will say that the surgery was not that painful. Pain level was a 10 before surgery & never above a 5 post surgery.  . Most days the first 2 weeks was a 3. Not so now. It is here that I want to say that if you have any surgery that requires out patient P.T., as soon as your at home P.T. ends, get that slip from your surgeon for outpatient P.T. & get your ass there.  I did not.  As a result, my rt. hip is killing me. Doesn't help that my rt. knee is in need of surgery & I compensate for that. Monday, I begin 2 to 3 times a week for 6 to 8 weeks P.T.   Hopeful our N.E. weather will allow.
Have had to fight my primary for 5 mg of oxycodone, 3 times a day if needed.  After this last struggle, I decided to just do without. Well that just lasted 3 days when I took my first one out of the new bottle of 84 an hour ago. Don't know who gets the 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 mg's & what kind of shape you have to be in to get them. I understand they can be addicting. I've never taken more than allowed, sometimes less. Even after surgery my surgeon gave me rx's for 2 every 4 hours & I only took one.
To be continued: If I'm not back here before Thanksgiving, have a great one.  That's All Folks!
